The first season of Heroes started off with a bang, introducing us to unique characters while we learn and explore their powers with them. The good, the bad and all the rest that goes with great power. Right from the start alliances were formed and loyalties laid down and we all had our favourite characters and those we love to hate but by the time we reach the middle of season 2 the novelty started to wear off and by the end of the season three I wonder why the hell they bothered. Season 4 has more of the same and unfortunately we still have season 5 to look forward to.

What happens now? What could possibly still go wrong? Will this be the Heroes’ saving grace?

Game of Thrones is an America TV series produced by HBO, based on the collection of books by George R R Martin called A Song Of Fire And Ice. The story plays itself out in the fiction world of Westeros and has multiple stories line to portray. It is a fantasy based political / action series that has an amazing ability to drawn you into the drama of their lives. Some of the more likable characters don’t stick around till the end and the ones that work on your nerves from the start are firm favourites by the time the 10th episode ends. Like all fans I am waiting with bated breath for the next season to begin. In the first they managed to stick quite closely to the original book and hope they’ll do the same for the next, let’s all hope it doesn’t go the way of Legend Of The Seeker, that is one series that should have never used the ‘based on the books by…’ line in the credits.

Summers span decades. Winters can last a lifetime. And the struggle for the Iron Throne has begun. It will stretch from the south, where heat breeds plots, lusts and intrigues; to the vast and savage eastern lands; all the way to the frozen north, where an 800-foot wall of ice protects the kingdom from the dark forces that lie beyond. Kings and queens, knights and renegades, liars, lords and honest men…all will play the ‘Game of Thrones’. {HBO}

The Big Bang Theory is an American situation comedy about two super smart, socially inept roommates that live across the hall from an ‘inferior’, but gorgeous, woman.

Sheldon (Theoretical Physicist) and Leonard (Experimental Physicist) are content with their lives and small circle of acquaintances/friends that all move in the same academic circles until Penny moves in across the hall. She seldom understands what Sheldon is talking about and Leonard tends to dumb down the conversation so she understands it better. Leonard has the foresight to see Penny as their social saviour and also sees her as a possible, if unlikely, love interest. Two fellow scientists from Caltech, Howard & Rajesh, complete the group. Howard sees himself as a gift to women but more often fails that succeeds in his quest for love/lust, he never lets an opportunity pass him by to flirt with Penny or to make suggestive comments. Rajesh has a strange disorder where he can’t speak to any women unless he is drunk (or thinks he is drunk), even with Penny who he sees as a friend, whenever she is in the same room he whispers his questions or statements to one of the guys.

So, what is next for this misfit group of scientists and their saviour?

How I Met Your Mother is an American comedy series soon to start its 7th season. The story starts with a scene from 2030 where Ted, main protagonist, talks to his two children, telling them the story of how he met their mother. As of yet she has not been revealed though there has been plenty of possibilities.

The show centres around Ted and his quest for the perfect love, he is encouraged in his quest by his best friend Barney (a male slut with unique seduction techniques), Robin (a Canadian tomboy), and Marshall and Lily (the perfect lid-for-my-pot couple). Together they get in and out of trouble while trying to do the expected grown-up thing – being responsible.

Who is the elusive Mother and what will this misfit group get up to next?

Lie To Me is an American TV Series. It follows the head of the Lightman group, Dr. Cal Lightman, and his team as they accept third party assignments to assist in investigations. They make use of the Facial Action Coding System, and body language to solve their cases. Dr. Lightman will generally use his broad interpretation of the law to make rash decisions that puts him and the rest of his team in danger but like all ‘good’ consultants to law enforcement he has friends in the right places.

Will Dr. Lightman finally learn his lesson or will his rash actions have dire consequences?

MythBusters is a science TV series on Discovery Channel that explores myths, proving them wrong, confirming the myth or deciding that it is plausible. The team consists of Jamie Hyneman, Adam Savage, Tory Belleci, Kari Byron, and Grant Imahara. They usually explore more than one myth per episode. Jamie and Adam normally work together or compete against each other to prove or disprove a certain myth while the rest of the team tackle other myths. Some episodes have themes where they will only tackle myths that fall within that range e.g. Vodka Myths. Sometimes they’ll revisit myths approaching them from a different angle, it very rarely happens that they change their ‘verdict’ from one extreme to the other but it is possible.

So, what myth gets busted next?

V is a science fiction TV series remake (sort of) of a 1983 miniseries of the same name. An alien race comes to Earth and insists it comes in peace but in fact the alien race has a very dark and sinister motive. In the first season of V the aliens offer their medical knowledge and clean power solutions to Earth. A handful of humans don’t believe that the V’s are here in peace and forms a resistance. During the season it’s a to and fro between the good and bad of the V’s and the humans. Season 1 ends with a shot of a whole fleet of Visitor’s ships surrounding the planet, just waiting to invade Earth. In season 2 the resistance is even more focused on exposing the V’s for who and what they are. There’s more mind control and eye for an eye stuff and season 2 ends much the same as 1 with more V ships revealing themselves.

The Office is yet another US television series adopted from a UK series of the same name. The series is shot to give it a documentary feel and filmed in a single-camera setup.  This series follows the exploits of the employees of a paper company, focusing on their interpersonal relationships and the usual office politics in a comedic way. All of the employees have their own hang ups and rivalries that drive them. This is one of those shows that you’ll either love or hate, there’s no middle ground.

The story of Stargate SG-1 begins about two years after the events of the feature film, when the US government learns that a network of ancient alien devices called Stargates connects a vast multitude of planets within our Milky Way galaxy, facilitating near-instantaneous interstellar travel. Later episodes reveal that this network is capable of spanning not just planets within the Milky Way, but with sufficient power, can provide intergalactic travel as well. Stargate SG-1 chronicles the adventures of the special force and mercenary squad, SG-1, the flagship team of over two dozen teams from Earth who explore the galaxy and defend Earth against alien threats such as the Goa'uld, Replicators, and later the Ori. The composition of the SG-1 team is stable in the show's first five seasons but changes several times in the remaining seasons. The series expands upon many Ancient Earth mythologies such as Egyptian mythology, Norse mythology, and Arthurian legend. The 2008 direct-to-DVD films Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum continue the adventures of SG-1. - Wikipedia

There was more than one spin off shows for this brilliant series.  One of this I think should be a show about Vala Mal Doran played by Claudia Black, also staring in Farscape.
She is such a funny character, not caring what happens to people as long as she get the loot.
