Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a time-travellinghumanoid alien known as the Doctor who explores the universe in a sentient time machine called the TARDIS. Along with a series of companions, he faces a variety of foes while working to save civilisations, help people and right wrongs.

The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world,[1] and as the "most successful" science fiction series of all time, in terms of its overall broadcast ratings, DVD and book sales, iTunes traffic, and "illegal downloads".[2] It has been recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects during its original run, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop). The show is a significant part of British popular culture[3][4] in the United Kingdom, and elsewhere it has become a cult television favourite. The show has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. It has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006, and five consecutive wins at the National Television Awards from 2005 to 2010, in the Drama category while under Russell T Davies' reign as show runner.[5][6] In 2011 Matt Smith became the first actor to be nominated for a BAFTA for portraying the Doctor, but lost to Daniel Rigby. - wikipedia

V is a science fiction TV series remake (sort of) of a 1983 miniseries of the same name. An alien race comes to Earth and insists it comes in peace but in fact the alien race has a very dark and sinister motive. In the first season of V the aliens offer their medical knowledge and clean power solutions to Earth. A handful of humans don’t believe that the V’s are here in peace and forms a resistance. During the season it’s a to and fro between the good and bad of the V’s and the humans. Season 1 ends with a shot of a whole fleet of Visitor’s ships surrounding the planet, just waiting to invade Earth. In season 2 the resistance is even more focused on exposing the V’s for who and what they are. There’s more mind control and eye for an eye stuff and season 2 ends much the same as 1 with more V ships revealing themselves.

The story of Stargate SG-1 begins about two years after the events of the feature film, when the US government learns that a network of ancient alien devices called Stargates connects a vast multitude of planets within our Milky Way galaxy, facilitating near-instantaneous interstellar travel. Later episodes reveal that this network is capable of spanning not just planets within the Milky Way, but with sufficient power, can provide intergalactic travel as well. Stargate SG-1 chronicles the adventures of the special force and mercenary squad, SG-1, the flagship team of over two dozen teams from Earth who explore the galaxy and defend Earth against alien threats such as the Goa'uld, Replicators, and later the Ori. The composition of the SG-1 team is stable in the show's first five seasons but changes several times in the remaining seasons. The series expands upon many Ancient Earth mythologies such as Egyptian mythology, Norse mythology, and Arthurian legend. The 2008 direct-to-DVD films Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum continue the adventures of SG-1. - Wikipedia

There was more than one spin off shows for this brilliant series.  One of this I think should be a show about Vala Mal Doran played by Claudia Black, also staring in Farscape.
She is such a funny character, not caring what happens to people as long as she get the loot.

Being Human is a series (based on another series of the same name but from the UK) that centers around two (lets say 3) roommates but the one is a vampire, the second a werewolf and the third is a ghost that can’t move on. Now the whole werewolf-vampire thing has been done to death but somehow making them friends that share a house with an emotional ghost saves this series from the hundreds of dreadful fantasy based series that get cancelled long before they even finish airing an entire season. At the end of the series the werewolf impregnates his girlfriend and infects her with the dreaded I’m-also-gonna-turn-into-a-wolf-thing-come-full-moon-virus and the vampire gets appointed as head of his vamp-family in the city and the ghost misses her door out of the land of the living. With all the action packed up and downs I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for season 2.
